Who We Are

OITI Alumni is a vibrant community of young researchers who actively participate in the academic projects of the Observatorio Iberoamericano de Tributación Internacional (OITI). Our members include a diverse group of young professionals, researchers, and students dedicated to the study and practice of international taxation. Originating from the annual Iberoamerican Tax Moot Court Competition and various OITI academic initiatives, OITI Alumni seeks to foster continuous professional and academic development, capitalizing on the diversity and talent of its members to contribute to the growth and sustainability of the OITI.

How We Work

Open Debates and Discussions

We encourage open and respectful debates on various topics of international taxation.

Colaborative Research

Members team up to conduct research projects, leveraging the diverse expertise within the network.

Event Planning and Execution

Alumni members take the lead in organizing seminars and discussions, with the supervision of the OITI Secretariat.

What We Do

OITI Alumni is actively involved in a range of projects and events aimed at advancing the field of international taxation:

Quarterly Virtual Seminars

Focused on current issues in international taxation, these seminars invite experts to share insights followed by open debates in the OITI style. The debate has the OITI format featuring short presentation and animated debates.

OITI's Two-Year Research Project

A collaborative initiative focusing on the taxation of natural persons, aimed at producing comprehensive academic and practical outputs.

OITI Meetings

Alumni members contribute to the annual and intermediate meetings of the OITI, bringing fresh perspectives and research findings.

Networking and Collaboration

Through our network, members share opportunities, collaborate on research projects, and contribute to the OITI’s activities and publications.

Our Journey

Since our inception in 2010, we have progressively broadened our network and deepened our impact across the globe.

In 2010, a visionary partnership among three leading Iberoamerican Universities—Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Universidade de Sao Paulo, and Universidad Externado de Colombia—gave birth to the Iberoamerican Observatory of International Taxation (OITI).

The OITI has been instrumental in convening minds and talents

The inaugural meeting of the Observatory in October 2010, hosted by the Universidade de Sao Paulo and the Instituto Brasileiro de Direito Tributário, marked the beginning of an enduring quest to bridge gaps, inspire dialogue, and cultivate solutions to the emerging challenges in international taxation. This historic gathering laid the groundwork for what would become a series of influential meetings and events that not only expanded the network but also enriched the discourse within the international tax community.

Our Journey

Since our inception in 2010, the OITI has been instrumental in convening minds and talents

The subsequent years witnessed the Observatory's expansion and institutionalization. Key milestones included the organization of the first Iberoamerican Tax Moot Court and a series of International Taxation Meetings, which drew participation from across the globe, including the adhesion of The University of Florida and Universidad Autónoma de México.

Through years of dedicated effort, the OITI has not only facilitated meaningful conversations on double taxation treaties and the treatment of royalties but has also played a vital role in the education and formation of a new generation of tax professionals equipped to tackle the challenges of an increasingly globalized economy.
